Service Description

Give your child the poetry confidence they need as exams approach. This four-week intensive course unlocks the Worlds and Lives Poetry Anthology, building the skills and understanding to tackle any poem that comes up in their GCSE exam. Running throughout February, we'll explore the anthology's key themes – identity, culture, conflict, and human experience – while teaching your child how to analyse poetic techniques, compare poems effectively, and craft compelling responses under exam conditions. We demystify poetry analysis and show students exactly what examiners want to see. Perfect for students sitting their GCSEs in spring/summer 2025 who need focused support to approach unseen and comparison questions with confidence. By continuing to use services provided by The English Tutor you are agreeing to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions. ​ Your decision to continue to visit and make use of this site, and book tuition services, after such changes have been made validates your acceptance of the new Terms and Conditions. We ask that you check this agreement for such changes on a regular basis. If you do not agree to these terms please cease using The English Tutor's services immediately. Please note The English Tutor cannot be held responsible for grades which do not meet the student’s or parents'/guardians' expectation. ​ Please be aware that I am unable to tutor for longer than our agreed time as this has a knock-on effect to my other students and schedule. If a pupil arrives later than their allocated time, the session will still run from the agreed times and the usual charge will apply. However, I will only wait for ten minutes for your arrival before cancelling and counting it as a charged session. This tutoring agreement may be terminated at any time by any party, but if it is the client, they must give at least two weeks’ notice. If we must end the tutoring relationship for some reason, we will do our very best to give sufficient notice and provide referrals if requested. ​ Course payments are non-refundable​ ​ 1:1 tuition: If you need to cancel a session, then please contact us by email 48 hours ahead of the session at kirstienglishtutor@gmail.com ​ Of course, we understand that children do get poorly and that circumstances can change suddenly. Please email us to discuss this further as we can always rearrange a one off session or offer an online session instead. ​ If a student fails to arrive for a session without prior notification, and the tutor has arrived, then the full amount will be payable. ​ Tuition arrangements The Parent/Guardian is responsible for ensuring that a member of the household over 18 is within sight or sound of where the tuition is taking place, with this preferably being the Parent/Guardian. Resources, such as online whiteboards, will be shared with parents after the lesson. Students will need a quiet location to work in and the Parent/Guardian must be within sight or sound. Online sessions will be delivered using Zoom so this app must be downloaded ahead of the session. The
